Stiff’s first designer

Such is the scale of Barney Bubbles’ artistic legacy, you could be forgiven for thinking he was Stiff’s sole designer. However, along with the introverted and ultimately tragic figure of Bubbles, the label was also indebted to the then young designer Chris Morton. The bubbly black and white logo he drew gave Stiff a distinctive and highly original identity and appeared on the first records, press releases, letters and posters to emerge from 32 Alexander Street in London.
