‘Hold On’ was released as a single and after being picked up by college radio stations, it became the first Stiff/Epic hit, reaching 18 in the Billboard Hot 100. “My record was silky smooth, very Stiff really,” says Gomm. “”It was quite funny really because in America they loved it. In Holland and Sweden it did all right, but it couldn’t get bloody arrest over here. But that’s been the story of my life really.” [excerpt from Be Stiff: The Stiff Records Story]
